JAM Creative Consultancy has a dearth of experience in both 2D and 3D animation which allowed us to produce a multi-channel campaign for London Borough of Hounslow during the 2022 launch of their Community Solutions initiative. This service has been designed to connect residents to local volunteer groups, charities and organisations who offer everything from guidance and support to keeping healthy and making new friends.
Animation was the chosen medium and once commissioned, JAM went about developing a script and storyboard able to convey the message in the most visual arresting way possible.
Central to this project was understanding the delicacies of Council communications and the potential for scrutiny from both outside and within. Thus, each featured character was researched and given an extensive backstory to ensure their depiction was as representative as possible. JAM went a step further by arranging focus group within the community to further ensure these stories would connect with the intended audience in the right way.
In addition, there were challenges in condensing such a wide-ranging initiative into a tight 2 minutes.
The key to explaining a multi-faceted service such as this was to use smaller vignettes, that when combined, would offer a holistic view into the services on offer and the various ways to interact accordingly. Additionally, this approach permitted for more targeted advertising creating a wider and deeper footprint in the process.
The result is a hugely enjoyable and informative animation that was premiered during Hounslow Film Festival to a great reception and an on-going social media campaign that is improving the lives of residents across the borough.
